1/8/11 (Season 6)
Eric and Bobbo start 2011 with a first place finish
In the first league night of 2011, rival KanJam World Champions, Eric Klavoon and Bob Greenauer got paired up and went 13-3. They also shot one perfect game on the way to a first place finish. Their top finish in Week 5 was the second this season for Bob. It was also the third in a row for Eric, marking his 4th first place finish in five weeks.
In second place was Tim Klavoon and Josh Greenauer, finishing at 11-5, while TJ Burns & Bob Bowers took third at 10-6. In their series against each other, perfect games were thrown in back-to-back games, one for Tim & Josh and the other for TJ & Bob. Tim & Josh tossed one perfect game and TJ & Bob tossed two, which led the league this week. Dan Klavoon & Adam Williams were another team that threw a perfect game in Week 5.
This could be referred to as the "craziest" league night of the season so far. There were several rare and unlucky plays, including Dan's favorite: the bounce-out. TJ Burns also tipped the disc into the can and it came out the slot for only one point in a game against Eric & Bob. The highlight play of the night was Josh Greenauer's tip, which could be one of the best tips ever in league history. Josh deflected the disc nearly before it hit the ground, and it went through his legs and into the can for a bucket.
Another rare play was an instant win over the top of the can by Alex Reinecke. This was Alex's second instant win of the season, which leads the league. Newcomer John Coles also threw an instant win in his first league night in a game against TJ & Bob.
Overtime, overtime, and even more overtime. What a night for overtime! Not one, but two teams set a league record in overtime games played in a single night. Both Tim & Josh and Dan & Adam played in 10 overtime games of their 16 games played on the night. Breaking it down further, Dan & Adam played in 21 total overtime rounds while Tim & Josh played in 19 total overtime rounds. And for the second straight week, Adam played in a 7-overtime game, this time against TJ & Bob. TJ & Bob would win the game in the 7th OT round to claim the well fought victory. In total, 41% of all league games played in Week 5 went to overtime. Now that's a lot of KanJam!
Top runner Eric Klavoon pushes his lead to 13 points in the overall standings. Bob Greenauer moves past Dan Klavoon for second place and Adam Williams maintains his ground in 4th. After being in 10th after Week 3, Josh Greenauer has moved all the way up to 5th place.
